Retreat description

This is the third day in a series of one-day retreats exploring the possibility of being grounded in the depth of timeless presence in the midst of daily life. We will inquire how to live a full life from silence and emptiness, and yet being yourself in peace with others, and doing what needs to be done.

A day of retreat is, for a brief time, to stop the momentum of the world so that which is profound and real may emerge and be embodied. A human life infused with meaning, freedom and love, a fulfilling life, means to develop a taste for certain values; a taste for truth, depth and simplicity of being. You do not need to achieve these qualities, you just need to appreciate them and orient yourself towards them, allowing yourself the time and opportunity for them to emerge and become an integrated part of your life. With a spirit of curiosity and kindness, we will engage in meditative and inquiry practices that support realignment, deep rest, letting go and embodiment. To invite inner intimacy, part of the day will be held in silence.

Day three will explore the following:

Throughout time spiritual practitioners have embarked on the simple, yet challenging path of meditation and inquiry; to stabilize oneself in effortless embodied presence and using human creativity and curiosity to deepen understanding. Wisdom arises from the spirit of exploration, the innocence and freedom to simply ask; What is this? What is the truth of my experience, of body, mind and heart? What is the nature of awakening and the path of awakening? What brings peace of mind and the end of suffering?

The day will include guided meditations, teaching sessions, as well as mindful speaking and listening, being present in the relational field and conversations with the teacher.  Please make a commitment to attend the whole day (morning and afternoon sessions).

Well-being guidelines - please click here to read before booking

Before you book, please read these guidelines about mental well-being and silent retreats:

Meditation retreats can be very nourishing; however, as they require sustained meditation practice, they also need some stability of psychological health. If you have recently (within the past year or so) experienced significant trauma or psychiatric illness, or if you are currently experiencing acute emotional distress such as serious depression or anxiety, it may not be the best time for you to participate in a retreat. The teachers might not be able to give you the kind of individual psychological care you need at this time. A setting with more opportunities for interpersonal engagement may be more appropriate.

  • If you are currently under the care of a mental health professional, please discuss your attendance with them. You should be in a relatively stable period of mental well-being and have adequate psychological resilience.
  • If you have any questions about this, please contact Susanne using the email address,
