Sunday, 7 March 2021

This is part of a series of meditation days with Leela entitled: ‘Embodying Human Awakening – Living In the World but Not Of It’.

For anybody who feels a connection to Gaia House and/or the Insight Meditation tradition and who has previously attended a silent meditation residential retreat of 3 nights or more at Gaia House or another residential centre.

The teacher:

Retreat description

Welcome to a series of one-day retreats exploring the possibility of being grounded in the depth of timeless presence in the midst of daily life. We will inquire how to live a full life from silence and emptiness, and yet being yourself in peace with others, and doing what needs to be done.

This day in the series is exploring the possibility of being grounded in the depth of timeless presence in the midst of daily life around the theme ‘Fulfilment’ . We will inquire how to live a full life from silence and emptiness, and yet being yourself in peace with others, and doing what needs to be done.

A human life infused with meaning, freedom and love, a fulfilling life, means to develop a taste for certain values; a taste for truth, depth and simplicity of being. You do not need to achieve these qualities, you just need to appreciate them and orient yourself towards them, allowing yourself the time and opportunity for them to emerge and become an integrated part of your life.

Other days in this series

7 February     —     Depth of being

7 March     —     Fulfilment

11 April     —     Embodiment

23 May     —     Beauty of being

Format

With a spirit of curiosity and kindness, we will engage in meditative and inquiry practices that support realignment, deep rest, letting go and embodiment. To invite inner intimacy, part of the day will be held in silence. Each retreat day will include guided meditations, teaching sessions, as well as mindful speaking and listening, being present in the relational field and conversations with the teacher.

Participants are invited to register for all five days in the series, although each day can also be booked as a standalone retreat day. We ask that both the morning and afternoon sessions are attended for days booked.

Dana can also be offered to Gaia House’s residential service team via our website here: https://gaiahouse.co.uk/support-us/.  Whilst our retreat centre remains closed, this team is taking care of Gaia House on the ground, as well as offering tech support for online retreats and responding to email and telephone enquiries.

With deep appreciation for your generosity.

Well-being guidelines - please click here to read before booking

Before you book, please read these guidelines about mental well-being and silent retreats:

Meditation retreats can be very nourishing; however, as they require sustained meditation practice, they also need some stability of psychological health. If you have recently (within the past year or so) experienced significant trauma or psychiatric illness, or if you are currently experiencing acute emotional distress such as serious depression or anxiety, it may not be the best time for you to participate in a retreat. The teachers might not be able to give you the kind of individual psychological care you need at this time. A setting with more opportunities for interpersonal engagement may be more appropriate.

  • If you are currently under the care of a mental health professional, please discuss your attendance with them. You should be in a relatively stable period of mental well-being and have adequate psychological resilience.
  • If you have any questions about this, please contact Susanne using the email address, retreatmanager@gaiahouse.co.uk

Registration has now closed.
